Excellent Book!!

	This was such a wonderful and magical story. It was very creative with great life lessons as well and can‘t wait for the sequel! We don‘t have any kids yet but   when we do, we look forward to having our daily walks to school with them! So when does the movie version come out? : )

We set a record!

	Every first Friday of the month we allow as many children who can arrive at our house by 7:00am to walk to school with Ppeekk and me.     These walks include kids as young as pre-kindergarten, and as old as high school.     Since last year our record stood at 42 kids walking...until this last first Friday!    On April 3, 2009 we broke our year-old record and had 47 walkers!     You wouldn‘t believe the number of lunchboxes and other stuff that was thrown off the bridge!    Hope you can walk with us someday and help us break our new record!

	Hi everyone this is Ppeekk, Frank McKinney‘s (Edward‘s) daughter!!!!!!!     Dead Fred is the best book I have ever read, and I know that you will feel the same!    Now I will share a walking-to-school story with you!!!!! One time I was walking to school with my dad(Edward) Quatro, Mini Rommy, Mcflyo, and Danimal. We were walking across the drawbridge, and we heard a splash. We all looked down in the waterway, and we saw 3 manatees!!!! One of the manatees was huge like Mr. Mann, the other one was about medium size just like Anna, and then there was a little one just like Manny. We all were so excited, and we all went to school telling our friends what we saw!     I hope you enjoyed my walking-to-school story, let me know what you think about the book and have a awesome Dead Fred Day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Floating Lunchbox

	I‘ve read Quatro‘s stories and they‘re great. I have my own stories and this is the first.  One morning, McFlyo, Ppeekk and I were on our walk and came to the T rock. As tradition goes, we chuck our lunchboxes at the rock. McFlyo hurled his with a mighty grunt. He missed the rock by a hair and the box was floating on the Intracoastal Waterway. Quatro‘s dad came to the rescue with a long fishing stick, but McFlyo a a very salty lunch.    Thanks for reading my first posted story all! I‘ll be trying to post more often.  Danimal

	Hey guys we really miss walking to school everyday so i made up a plan that i want to put in action. I could leave my moms house a t 7 on my bike with the hutchinsons and then get to school at like 7:10 and then when i get to school i could let them go to school and then keep on riding to your house and be there at 7:15 and then we could walk to school!but i dont know if mini romey would like all the exersise hahahaahahaha soo ill work on it

First Day of School Ever

	So much fun ... both my husband and I walked our son, Theo, to his first day of pre-school this morning. I‘ll never forget the image of him with his little backpack on, stopping to sniff the neighbor‘s flowers, checking out a dead grasshopper, doing a balancing act on the low stone walls, hopping along behind his dad, detouring for about five minutes so we could admire someone‘s fountain, and then getting this huge grin on his face as we rounded the corner and saw his best buddy‘s mom‘s car. By the time we reached the door of his classroom, he‘d filled up on mom and dad and was ready to meet new friends.    Not exactly a crazy adventure today, but the beginning of something wonderful. Thanks, Frank, for pointing out how much this kind of thing means to children. I might have walked Theo to school without your example, but I wouldn‘t have viewed it as so full of potential and warmth and family memories--and I probably wouldn‘t have been so relaxed and unconcerned about the destination. This morning, the walk was the main event.

The Disappearing Bacon

	When we lived in the house almost connecting to the McKinneys me and Mini Romey used to walk over to there house right after breakfast. But Mini Romey was ALWAYS hungry so when we got to there house Toad would always have bacon on the table for Ppeekk and Mini Romey would always sneek the whole plate in her mouth without anyone noticing. Soon Toad was noticing and she would ask Mini Romey"Why do you eat Ppeekk‘s breakfast?"and Mini Romey would always say"Because my mom didnt feed me"even thogh she had 8 waffles every morning. Soon Toad found out that she was fibbing but would always cook extra bacon and it went like that every morning it is hilarious.

My blown up lunchbox

	One day on first friday we had bought some of those really cool flashing fireworks and we were lighting them everywhere. We lit them on the bridge in the grass and sometimes we throgh them while lit under the bridge. So once again Mr. McKinney (Edward) dared me to put the firework on top of my lunchbox. We didnt think it would like blow up we just thogh it would i dont now light on fire. But it did blow and it was really funny all of my apple sauce went everywhere inside it. It was hilarious. Eventually i lost so many lunchboxes with them my parents brought our lunchboxes with them to school. Maybe a story like that will be in the next Dead Fred book!

	ok so one time i personally wasnt there but my sis and mr.mckinney (Edward) ) and ppeekk told me that my sister(mini romey)must have been day dreaming cause she looked up into one of the trees of the nature preserve and said "O MY GOSH!!!SQUARE RACOON!!!"And then everyone started cracking up.    Here is another story about how we all started throwing our lunchboxes off the bridge.  Ok so one day we were walking to school and we were looking at the red crabs when we sudenly noticed one of those metal star shaped crab traps. And Mr.McKinney dared me to throw my lunchbox down. And i could never refuse a dare from Mr.McKinney so i through it and it landed right in the middle of the trap. So then we started doing that everyday and soon we started getting points like we do now. We now through it in the T-Rock because someone took the trap away and teh T-rock is a more fun target for our lunchboxes.

Temperature Game!

	My oldest 2 daughters are in 1st and 2nd grades- and I am fortunate to be able to drive them to school each morning (it is a 5 mile commute so we are unable to walk it each morning).  When we started the drive, we tried to determine the highest and lowest temperatures we had seen on the cars temperature display... this soon evolved into a daily temperature guess where the three of us guess the temperature prior to getting in the car each morning, then when the door opens to get out for school whoever has the closest temperature at that time is the daily winner.    We keep a daily tally on an excel spreadsheet (today was our 94th drive to school this year). To date, my two daughters are tied, and I am 5 behind! THe highest temperature we have seen in the moring is 89 degrees and the lowest is -2 degrees ( a 91 degree spread).    The beauty of the game is that it has taken on a life of its own (we discuss ratios, statistics, what would happen if the world was 1000 degrees or 400 below zero, we talk about what their cousin peek and uncle Frank see on their journey to school...).     The game has become fairly competitive, so my girls have become resourceful- using the temperature on the television, our indoor/outdoor gauge, the phone‘s weather line, and the computer to get their info for the daily pick (they have even resorted to seeing if the temp outdoors feels close to what their sources tell them). It has helped them become more aware of their world around them and the many infuences on temperature. But, the person this helped the most is me. This game has brought the kid out in me and I look forward to it each morning!
