Dynamis – Power in Motion
08 July 2011Dynamis – a Greek work meaning “power at work” or “power in motion.” Certain English derivations may come to mind, “dynamic” or“dynamite.” Spiritually, dynamis is a power that one cannot unleash alone. It is a collaborative effort between us as humans, and our God.
As we arrive in Death Valley for my 6th Badwater Ultramarathon, this word, Dynamis, and its spiritual meaning, will be at the forefront of my mind as a racer and on the minds of our 5-person all-star crew (Nilsa my wife, Martie my sister, Madeleine my sister, Bob my brother, and Kass my friend).
I want to thank you for the “power” you have sent in the form of prayers and well wishes. Many that I received I have copied and will bring with me as I run 135 non-stop miles in 125 degree heat in what National Geographic calls “the toughest footrace in the world.”
