Frank plays a lead role in the “Psycho-Spiritual Thriller” movie…

“Infidel”

Here is a short press release for Infidel, followed by a video. A few paragraphs down you can read how this unusual opportunity came about for me, and how you can be invited to the Red Carpet Private Screening in South Florida:

An armed gunman enters your place of worship and opens fire; “anyone who is NOT a believer is free to go,” he says. He gives you one minute to choose between your life and your soul. What will you do?

After a violent stampede out the door, only seven people remain in their pews. Are they crazy? Are they confused? Or do they really value their faith more than their lives? This is the premise of Infidel, a psycho-spiritual thriller, written and directed by the famous George Monteiro.

The story of Infidel is not as far-fetched as it was when he began writing, George says. “Three days after I finished the first draft, the “Dark Knight” massacre occurred in Colorado. That is when I knew I needed to make this film.” According to Producer Rose Warner, Infidel takes the genre of the “Faith Based” film in a provocative new direction. “This isn’t a warm fuzzy film to take your little kids to,” says Rose, “it may force you to face facts that most of us would rather ignore.”

Infidel features a talented cast starring Arturo Ferreira as the Infidel, with Todd Bruno, Brandi Rudicil, Blesi Tchividjian, Sharon Pfeiffer, Lenin Valladares, Alan Myles Heyman, Ron Bramos, and Frank McKinney as The Man. It was shot in ultra-high 4K resolution on Red Epic cameras by an award winning crew with countless television and film credits. Infidel will be released in early-2013.

Here’s how it all came about for me…

A few months ago, first thing on a Monday morning, I received a very unusual FaceBook message. The correspondence from the women read in part: “I have a question, have you ever acted? The reason I am asking is because I am working on a film and have a part that I think you would work nicely in. Read the attached script and tell me what you think.”

Of course, having a full plate that Monday morning, my initial reaction was to respond with a quick “no,” since her request wasn’t something that I do or had an interest in. Also, I am periodically approached with offers to fund film projects, and felt this was likely another such request.

As I was typing my “no” response and was readying to hit the send button, something lead me to open the attachment. OK, I’ll read the first few lines of the script since the title of the movie intrigued me – Infidel, then delete it and return my “no, thank you and I wish you the best” message.

After the first few paragraphs I shut off my cell phone, turned off the ringer on my Treehouse office phone, printed the entire script and turned off my computer so I could finish my uninterrupted reading of what turned out to be the most riveting and evocative story I have read in a long time.

Infidel, from a new movie genre, “psycho-spiritual thriller,” had completely captivated me.

Sitting back in my chair after finishing the entire script, one chapter in my book Make it BIG! and really the entire premise of my book The Tapcame to mind. Chapter 28 from Make it BIG!: Make a commitment to yourself to say yes more than no. Don’t hesitate. And The Tap is all about learning to recognize and act on life’s great tap moments. Was this one, and should I say yes?

Without hesitation, yet with a bit of fear, I erased my “no” response and inserted: “I took the time to read the entire script, very well done and quite moving. It has been some years, but yes I did do some acting in my 20’s. Small parts on Miami Vice, a Chuck Norris movie, etc. While it would a big departure for me, and certainly isn’t what I do for a living, I would consider auditioning for the part.”

Remember, fear results from the thought of risk, and risk is often contemplated when considering a significant change or challenge in our lives. In other words, fear is a sensation resulting from the pursuit of an opportunity. I was sure feeling all three in resounding unison – change/challenge? = risk? = fear!

So, shortly after sending my “yes” response, I was assigned an audition time at a studio in Plantation, Florida. I showed up pretty nervous and learned I would be competing for the part with 5 others who were professional actors. Now the butterflies really started to flutter!

I had memorized my lines and read with another actor on camera. I felt the Holy Spirit with me as I delivered my dialogue. It didn’t even seem to be me projecting. I finished my audition, thanked the Producer and Director for the opportunity, and went home. If you’re going to have regrets, regret what you did, not what you didn’t do, right? Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

A few days later, when I had assumed someone far more qualified was selected for the part, I received this from the Director: “It was a real pleasure meeting you, Frank. Your audition was spectacular. You really nailed the part. I know because the hair was standing up on the back of my neck! We were really worried that we wouldn’t come up with someone who could believably portray “The Man.” After seeing your performance and the natural and technical gifts you brought to bear on the part, we all agree that you are our “Man!” I hope you are as enthusiastic about your role as we are about having you in it.”

Who is The Man? What is Infidel, a “psycho-spiritual thriller,” all about?

The Man is a modern day Jesus Christ. I know, an impossible role to play or shoes to fill, but that is who I will be portraying.
