Make it BIG! 20th Anniversary

11 March 2022

Make it BIG! turns 20…

The one that started it all. The book that was rejected by 23 publishers, but I never gave up. The book that landed me on Oprah (2x) and on the cover of USA Today.

“Frank McKinney has always liked to live on the edge…he likes to live dangerously. The vision he applies to creating his estate homes will someday be legendary” – said the Wall Street Journal about Make it BIG on 1.11.02.

An unfavorable review: “This book DOES have certain life lessons and strategies that can be applied to varied aspirations. My problem with this book is the COVER! The first time I saw it in a shop window I couldn’t stop laughing. While each individual retains the right to present themselves as they wish to be seen, and how they feel about themselves, Mr. McKinney looks like the love child of Bob Guccione and Farrah Fawcett.” – F Gentile

F Gentile probably wouldn’t like the cover of Aspire! too much either.

Since January 11, 2002 I haven’t needed to carry a business card. Make it BIG changed my life forever & has gone on to change the lives of hundreds of thousands. It still sells well.

I’d love to hear your Make it BIG story or see a pic with you and your MIB book.

P.S. The opening 3 sentences of Make it BIG: “Let me tell you, January’s one helluva cold month in Indianapolis, Indiana. It’s gray, dreary, and a good time to get out of town – which is exactly what I was doing. Permanently.”

It was also 40 years ago today, January 11, 1982, that young guy boarded an Eastern Airlines flight alone and left Indiana with everything I owned in a duffle bag – killing the person I was born to be to become the person I wanted to be.

P.P.S. Being only 2 years old, it wasn’t easy to drag along that duffle bag and my blanket.
